Tint Removal

Tint removal is the careful process of peeling old window film off the glass and cleaning any residual adhesive, usually preceding a retint or for resale preparation.

Tint removal is typically done with a combination of steam, heat gun and chemical adhesive removers. Done correctly, the film comes off in one or two large pieces with no damage to defroster lines or seals.

Done badly — particularly by amateurs using razor blades on rear windscreens — defroster lines get scratched and seals tear. A botched removal can cost more to repair than the original tint.

Infratint handles removal as part of any retint at a flat charge, and we always inspect the defroster post-removal before applying fresh film.
